With Ooty becoming utterly commercial, the hill town is flocked by hoards of tourists throughout the year. Camping in Ooty is the best option if you want to experience the wilderness & untouched side of Nilgiris.

For people unfamiliar, Ooty - The queen of hill stations is a popular hill retreat located in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. The town of Ooty sits right the heart of Nilgiris Bioreserve in the western ghats - one of the most important biodiversity hotspots of the world.

Ooty is surrounded by dense, lush green sholas (native forests), wildlife reserves & numerous waterbodies. Most of the these are offlimits to tourists in an effort to protect it's rich flora & fauna and the fragile ecosystem. With mainstream tourism choking the eco system, Ooty is slowly reinventing itself to become one of the sought after destinations for eco-tourism, tent camping & trekking.

Exoticamp's Misty Ooty Camping stay is set amidst a sprawling private tea estate. Located in the Eastern slope of the Western Ghats; our tent stay in Ooty offers a breathtaking, bird's eye view of Moyar Valley, Rangaswamy Peak & Bhavani Sagar Dam. You could spend your day with a cup of tea, reading a book or listening to your favorite melody while you appreciate the breathtaking view. You could also trek up to a couple of nearby peaks to get awe inspiring cloud-filled valley views. Very little light pollution around the campsite also makes up for a wonderful stargazing experience. The campsite enjoys great weather throughout the year, with occasional mist drifting in and out of the campsite. With Satyamangalam Reserve Forest in the vicinity the chances of spotting native wildlife is always there. The place is also fantastic for bird spotting. One could spot Orange Flycatchers, Nilgiri Flycatchers, Red-whiskered Bulbuls, Nilgiri Laughing Thrush, Grey headed Canary Flycatcher, Bar-winged Flycatcher Shrike etc.

The campsite is fully equipped with neat washrooms, dinning area, functioning kitchen & basic electricity in common areas to charge your phones.

The campsite can be accessed by both own transport and Public Transport. There is open Car / Van / Bike parking space at the base camp.

Reaching by public transport:

The nearest Railway station / Major Bus Stand is Ooty. From Ooty, taxis could also be availed to the base camp. For transport assistance from Ooty, you could reach out to Camp hosts. One could also reach Coimbatore & from there take taxi to the campsite.

Day 1

Morning:

Check In Assemble at Coimbatore around 7.30 am and proceed to the campsite as a convoy. Pick-up from Coimbatore & back is at an added cost & if you are driving on your own; gather in Coimbatore (7.30 am) / Mettupalayam (8.30 am). Exact location will be shared post booking.

Noon:

Hiking
Post check-in, freshen up, relax for a bit, explore the campsite, finish lunch and high-tea & proceed for a breathtaking sunset hike

Night:

Campfire
Return from the hike, finish hot dinner and assemble for a fun-filled campfire session

Stargazing
Post campfire, you could indulge in DIY stargazing through Sky Map / Sky View App

Day 2

Noon:

Waterfalls Visit
Wake up, laze around, click pics, finish tea & breakfast. Post breakfast; head to an ice cold waterfalls locate deep inside the woods for a dip (seasonal). Post waterfalls visit, finish lunch on the way and start your return journey. Waterfalls is located 60+ Kms from the campsite. People coming on their own transport must drive to the site using their own transport only.

Cancellation Policy:

75% refund for all cancellations done 7 days before the date of stay
No refund for cancellations within 7 days from the date of stay
Booking dates cannot be transferred / rescheduled
Incase of govt. imposed lockdowns / Covid disruptions, option to reschedule booking to any other date within a year will be given. No refund will be issued.
Refunds if any will be credited to the source account in 7 working days

How to get here?

1) Drive down to assembly point, We shall share the location.
2) Reach Mettupalayam (Train tickets available) and we can arrange for a private car pickup for you at an actual cost which you can pay directly to the travels. Should be around Rs.800-950 for the round trip.
3) From Coimbatore we can arrange Suv/car at 8k,6k respectively and can be shared by the participants.

I'm joining Misty ooty camp for the second time as it is one of the most relaxing camp with relaxing optinal activities which you can skip if you just want to relax. You can spend d whole day overlooking d view on the shaded platform and from the tent.

My first camping was with exoticamp with family in Jan / Feb 21 at TADA . Thanks to last trip i was confident about the exoticamp and tried first solo trip ever . Host co-ordinated very well and they also helped with tatkal tickets . Ganesh was wonderful host . He made sure everyone is comfortable , enjoying the place and also encouraged people for hiking . Place was safe , relaxing with an awesome view which you will cherish forever . Thank you Exoticamp for encouraging 1st time solo travelers like me for more and more such weekend trips.
